TAGS Dart10k swim in Devon

The Dart10k is the UK’s first and most iconic long-distance open water swim. It’s the swimming equivalent of the London Marathon and has a loyal base of the UK’s keenest swimmers. Organised by the Outdoor Swimming Society, the 10km swim takes place in the River Dart in Devon, flowing downstream from the river’s source in the hills of Dartmoor.

This year close to 1600 swimmers took on the 10km river challenge over a two-day weekend in September. Unlike other swims which focus on the competitive race aspect, the Dart10k is a journey open to everyone from the leisurely swimmer to an elite aiming for a PB.

Supported by a small army of volunteers, the Dark10k is also arguably the most accessible and inclusive open water swim, especially for swimmers with disabilities. TAGS partner, Level Water, which focuses on getting disabled kids swimming, was the charity partner for this year’s swim.

Malini was back in Devon for her third Dart10k swim – the second to highlight the TAGS campaign. As a 3rd timer, she was delighted to join the ‘Golden Hat Club’ of Dart10k swimmers who have completed 3 or more of the annual swims.
